For nearly 50 years, the Showboat on Route 20 in New Lebanon, NY, (seen here in 1975) was one of the area's most popular nightspots, according to Eagle archives. Built in 1930 by Earl and Arthur E. Roberts of Pittsfield, the Showboat was a big band dance hall during the '30s and featured acts like the Dorsey Brothers. During World War II, the hall fell into disuse. In 1946, it was revived into a nightclub which is what many of us remember it as.
One of our classmates, Tom Holleran, played in a band here in the year after graduation.
