The wreckers ball bit into the Kennedy-Bush Block, above at 27 North Street in Pittsfield on May 9, 1979, after an arson fire two days earlier gutted the business comples. The buildings had housed Berkshire News, a Fanny Farmer store, Nathan's Shoe Store, a Fotomat and the Downtow Bargains Outlet, as well as some professional offices.
