In early October, Bob O'Connor and I went to see Mr. Morton Wayne, supervisor of music and band and orchestra director while we were in high school. Mr. Wayne was genuinely touched by the visit and particularly by the letter I presented to him with all the comments by those of you who sent them to me for forwarding to him.
Mort is physically fit and is still sharp as a tack! He asked me about many of you and I told him as much as I could but truthfully, we just scratched the surface.
Mort said that the mid to late 50s were his golden years of teaching as far as he was concerned.
I told Mort that I would post a message on the website telling the class of our visit and letting them know that he would LOVE to hear from any of you that would like to write to him. He jumped at the opportunity to hear from his students and offered his winter address. Mort doesn't have a computer. May I suggest that those of us that have fond memories of our music life in high school send Mort a letter telling him of our present situation (where we live, kids, grandkids, how long married, what you have been up to for the past 50 years, etc.) and include a picture of yourself, either individually or in a group, for him to see you now.
Here is Mort's address in FL
