John Joseph Provenzano, 68, of 117 Second St. died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 26, 1940, a son of the late Carmello and Antoinette Bilotta Provenzano, he attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School. Mr. Provenzano served in the Army in 1957. A self-employed electrician, he retired in 1999. He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He leaves his wife, the former Patricia Sabato, whom he married May 31, 1963 in Mount Carmel Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, John C. Provenzano, and his wife, Sandra, and Michael A. Provenzano, all of Pittsfield; two daughters, Marie E. Provenzano, and her fiance, Keith Ventimiglia, of
Worcester, Deanna M. Zurrin and her husband, Darin, of Lenox, five grandchildren, Ryan Provenzano, Carl Zurrin, Zachary Zurrin, Shelsey Provenzano, and Jaime Provenzano; two brothers, Charles Provenzano, and his wife, Carol, of Pittsfield, and Peter Provenzano, and his wife, Jane, of Canaan, N.Y.; three sisters, Marie Costello, and her husband, Thomas, of Ocala, Fla., Elena Mara, and her husband, William, of Pittsfield and Carmen Garivaltis, and her husband, Charles, of Pittsfield, and nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for John Provenzano will be Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 9:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UNICO of Pittsfield in care of the funeral home.
