100502 A juried competition in 1971 selecded this sculpture (top picture) by Brooklyn artist Sahl Schwarts to sit at the head of a fountain pool in the center of Pittsfield's Dunham Mall. Schwartz was paid $5,000 through private donations. Public opinion was divided on the aesthetics of the piece. It was dismantled, along with the fountain in 1983 and relocated to the Berkshire Community College. The lower picture shows the mall in 2010
