The Merrill House, built on land owned by Revolutionary  War Cat. Hosea Merrill, overlooked Pontoosuc Lake in Pittsfield and was the traditional home of the city’s YMCA directors when photo above was taken in 1985. That year, then-Y director, Fred Toot, expressed a desire to build his own house and the proper was put on the market.
