The First Baptist Church building on South Street in Pittsfield was nine years old when photo above was taken [so says the Berkshire Eagle] in 1939. Designed by Joseph MacArthur Vance, architect for the Colonial Theatre and other downtown Pittsfield landmarks, it replaced an earlier building on North Street at a cost of about $350,000.
(I questioned the Eagle on the date as there are no mid to late 1930s cars in the photo. I would say that this photo was taken just after the building was finished, about 1931)
