Wayne Powell, U.S. Army.  I was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in June 1961 out of ROTC at Kansas State University.  I went on active duty in August, 1961.  I completed Artillery school at Ft Sill, OK, then was assigned to an 155mm Howitzer Artillery battery as a forward observer stationed at Ft Devens. MA.  I was released early from active duty in Sept. 1962, to return to college.  I served in the US Army Reserve for four more years until I was honorably discharged.
