Richard Fairfield, US Army    I was in the Army from Feb. 1958 to Feb. 1961 and did Basic in Fort Dix, NJ and Advanced Basic in Artiliry at Fort Chaffee, Ark. Then went to Darmstat, Germany.
When they staged us to go overseas, they split us, and half went to Viet Nam as Advisors and the other half went to Germany. After 2 years in Germany I came back to Fort Bragg, NC and was Discharged from there in Feb. 1961. In September of 1961 the National Gard Unit I was attached to, as nonactive reserve, was called up for active duty to replace troops going to the border of Germany and Russia, I spent a Year at Fort Bragg. NC before being discharged.
