Pittsfield High School was still being landscaped when the photo above was taken in 1931 as the new building was being prepared for opening. Designed by Harding & Seaver of Pittsfield and J. D. Leland & Company of Boston, the complex cost $1.3 million in Depression-era dollars and replaced the previous high school on the Common, now housing for the elderly.
