The corner of North and Eagle streets in Pittsfield looked very different in the 1951 photo, above, than it does today, (2008) right. The Bridge Lunch diner, left, a downtown landmark for 75 years, was demolished in 1982 as part of a reconstruction of the North Street railroad bridge. The Berkshire Eagle’s ‘Bulletin Board,’ center brought news summaries to pedestrians from 1915 until its removal in the early 1950s.
